October 27, 2021 @ 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM
Free
Join us at The Arbor Building, 425 30th Newport Beach, CA 92663 for an evening of music and conversation. John J. Thompson will talk about “Jesus Music,” and the Jesus Movement that rocked a generation 50 years ago. He’ll bring some records, and likely some friends who were there, and everything will be on the table. THIS JUST IN: Tim Tabor of The Prayer Chain and Mike Stand of The Altar Boys are confirmed for the special panel discussion during this event! Chris White, writer and director of ELECTRIC JESUS will also be in the house, along with members of the cast.
Thompson is a featured historian in the Lionsgate film The Jesus Music and served as a historical consultant for the upcoming fictional comedy Electric Jesus, which is a featured selection at the Newport Beach Film Festival the following night. His 2000 book Raised By Wolves served as a reference for both projects. He also has completed an upcoming novel that touches on the power of music to draw people into the power of community, where miraculous things happen. He currently produces and hosts The True Tunes Podcast, which has thus far featured acclaimed interviews with well-known legacy artists such as Amy Grant, Rich Mullins, Larry Norman, and Kevin Max, as well as exciting newcomers Liz Vice, Natalie Bergman, Taylor Leonhardt, and more. Admission is free and donations will be accepted.
