True Tunes 30 Year Reunion TOUR
The original True Tunes opened its doors on June 10th, 1989. I can think of no better way of marking that anniversary than spending time with a room full of aspiring and hopeful artists and songwriters here in Nashville. On June 10th I will once again be speaking at the Gospel Music Association’s IMMERSE Conference in Nashville. This conference gathers independent artists from around the world to learn from industry leaders and artists in very practical, hands-on, ways. I am honored to bring a message about how we define success in this rapidly changing musical and economic landscape. If you are an artist, songwriter, or aspiring music industry professional, I highly encourage you to consider checking IMMERSE out. If you do, I’ll see you there.
We’re going to mark this 30thAnniversary with a series of events throughout the year, following Immerse with a stop at the AUDIOFEED FESTIVAL in Urbana IL on July 3rdand 4th. My wife Michelle and I, aka The Wayside, (often considered the “house band” at True Tunes) will be playing at the festival the evening of the 3rd, and then I will do some speaking and general hanging out and MC-ing on the 4th.
The festivities will continue on Saturday, July 6th with a special 30 Year Class Reunion for the Chicago-area True Tunes faithful. The event will happen at The Warehouse Church in Aurora and will feature live music and interviews that will be recorded for future inclusion on the upcoming True Tunes Podcast. Musical artists are still being confirmed, but at this time we can announce that Glenn Kaiser, founding member of Resurrection Band (who, appropriately enough, was at a special “Tour Party” that launched the original True Tunes in 1989, before the store was even open,) Jeff Elbel, music journalist for The Chicago Sun Times and creative heart of the band Ping will be on hand, Josiah Viland of The Spectators will do a solo set, and The Wayside will perform as well. Video clips from the True Tunes and Cornerstone archives will fill the screens, and a special playlist is being compiled as well. Admission is free and donations will be accepted.
Plans for a special NASHVILLE event, and a possible Orange County CA event, are in the works right now and will be announced soon.
