So What’s This All About Anyway?
We don’t want to spam you, but we do believe that it is critically important, and a whole lot of fun, to spur each other forward in our mission to LISTEN TO BETTER MUSIC – AND LISTEN TO MUSIC BETTER. When True Tunes was founded back in 1989 it was designed as a way to keep the energy and chemistry we all found at places like the Cornerstone Festival going all year long. That version of True Tunes included a record store and concert venue in Wheaton IL, and a print magazine that eventually became the widest circulated rock and alternative-oriented faith-based music magazine in the world. Ownership changes brought those halcyon days to an end over 20 years ago. But now even as the ability to get the word out about great new music and film has increased exponentially via digital technology, streaming, and social media, it’s actually getting more and more difficult to get through to people. That’s what the new True Tunes, and this giveaway, is all about. We want to be able to talk to you about music, soul, rock and roll – and True Tunes is how we’re going to do it. Through the podcast, the website, and the Spotify mixtape we update every week, we are working hard to elevate the conversation. This giveaway is simply us trying to cut through the noise – to get the attention of like-minded friends – and to gather their attention via our email list, our podcast, and our Facebook group so that TOGETHER we can rock your world successfully.
We’ve already talked to Glenn Kaiser, Charlie Peacock, Eddie DeGarmo, Steve Taylor, Buddy Miller, Waterdeep, Liz Vice, Sandra McCracken, and others, and we published a long-lost interview with Rich Mullins. We’ve done all-music special episodes focusing on classic albums by The Choir, King’s X, Sam Phillips, and Johnny Cash – and an in-depth episode looking at 20 of our favorite albums from last year. And we are just getting started! Whether you are a long-time fan of the bleeding edge of faith and music or are too young to remember when people had to go to strange “Christian Bookstores” to get their tunes, you are welcome into this conversation with open arms. And you can count on us to keep you up to date on brand new voices, from worship, Gospel, and the best examples of contemporary faith-based music, to “mainstream” artists digging deep into matters of spirit and soul. And when people like Girder and Retroactive re-issue classics on vinyl – you know we’ll be talking about it. Plus, we are producing a special brand new podcast with the folks behind the upcoming film Electric Jesus (full-disclosure, True Tunes founder John J. Thompson is ALL UP IN that film as Music Supervisor and special historical consultant.) So – they are throwing a bunch of fun stuff in the prize pack too.
So sign up on the email list. Add us to your contacts (so that you actually SEE our emails when they come!) And help us help everyone listen to better music, and listen to music better, together.
Thanks!
This giveaway is sponsored by True Tunes, Electric Jesus, VisionTrust.org, Audiofeed Music Festival, White Owl Music Festival, Girder Records, and Retroactive Records. Thanks!
